Extruded pipes are among the most popular materials used in the production of decorative pipes and utilized in industry. An extruded pipe made of Plexiglass® is an excellent substitute for glass due to its properties and lightness. It is many times more resistant to mechanical damage. Transparent extruded PMMA pipes withstand harmful atmospheric conditions and UV light. They do not react when in contact with acids, bases, and salts. How is an extruded pipe made? The simplest method is pressing. A machine melts a special product and forms it to the desired length. Their production – and thus the price – is much cheaper than that of cast pipes. Extruded pipes can successfully be used for safety reasons at temperatures up to a maximum of 70 °C. At higher temperatures, satin-finished or cast pipes perform better.
Where are extruded pipes used? It is an excellent decorative material appreciated by the advertising industry. It can be produced in almost the entire color spectrum. This way, three-dimensional letters, elements of advertising boards, and stands for flyers are made. Due to transparency, a corresponding element where light is used presents itself excellently. Extruded pipes are also used in the construction sector and automotive industry. There are no concerns about using them outdoors. They do not yellow over time, and their transparency does not deteriorate. We must remember that extruded pipes are more difficult to work with than cast pipes. An extruded pipe produced to special order can have any length and diameter. Its strength will depend on its thickness.
